Description: We have an unprecedented opportunity to be Christ’s hands and feet by reaching out to integrate and empower refugees to become productive members of society by mobilizing the Church and building Christ-centered relationships.
As a former Iranian refugee, Samira knows firsthand how the love and kindness shown her as a newcomer to the U.S. helped not only get her and her family on their feet, but also led them into a relationship with Jesus. Then, Jesus led her to start Gateway of Grace, a ministry that meets the physical and spiritual needs of refugees now in 13 countries.
Sessions will include topics like:
Biblical mandate to help the foreigner in our midst
Best practices for reaching out to refugees & immigrants near you including needs assessments and action plans.
Practical ideas for outreach including ESL and cultural integration classes, apartment furnishing, job hunting, offering transportation, filling out forms for schools and assistance programs, and fun activities to build relationships and trust.
Resources and further networking for equipping your churches in reaching refugees and immigrants
Wednesday Night Dinner at Ridgecrest: Our group will eat together on Wednesday night in the dining hall from 5:30-6:30 so plan to add that meal to your Ridgecrest reservation when you make your housing and meal plans.
